Marriage Leave Policy and Sample Wedding Invitation

The wedding ceremony in India is an elaborate affair. The guests list run into several hundred. Many people work in cities other than their home town.  So the HR has also responsive to the needs of the employee. In most of the companies, you can take 2-3 weeks of leave. The clients in US, Europe also know that marriage is an elaborate affairs in India and even God can be in the guest list !! See the image below to believe it ☺

Now let me talk about the leave policy

* Product companies like Amazon, Yahoo, JDA do not have a cap on leave but you can talk to your manager and ask for 4 weeks of leave. Around 3  weeks of leave sounds reasonable.
* In services companies like Accenture, TCS, Cognizant, the leave depends upon the project as they will lose billability if the employee takes leave for a long duration. Still you should ask for 3 weeks of leave. Atleast 2 weeks will be granted
* Some product companies give around Rs. 5000 as a marriage gift allowance. But note that it is applicable only once in a lifetime. If you get divorced and remarry, you may not get allowance for the second time.
* Some services companies have marriage loan policy to provide you with financial assistance at the time of the employee’s  wedding.
* Interest free loan of up to Rs.20,000 or one month’s gross salary, whichever is less is given to associates including trainees who get married in the course of their employment at the company
* The loan amount will be recovered in a maximum of ten equal monthly installments from your salary. The first installment will be deducted in the same month that the loan is disbursed.
* In case you are travelling onsite for a long term assignment (greater than three months), you have to settle the pending loan in total before the travel.
* In case you are getting terminated / separated, you have to settle the pending loan in total as part of clearance formality.
*You can pre-close the loan or make a one-shot payment of the loan amount.
* You can opt to either recover the amount from your salary or transfer it to the company
*You have to provide a written declaration for the pre-closure or a down  payment of the loan and this has to be shared with the Finance team.

Sample Wedding Invite

In the IT companies, most of the people do not give marriage invitation cards but they scan a copy and send it to their colleagues. Now, you are about to leave to your native place for the wedding, and you need to urgently send a wedding invite. Copy the contents from below, Enter your spouse name, venue etc. Don’t forget to attach a copy of your wedding invitation card
