In Bangalore, some activists have called for a Bandh from Morning to Evening on the 31st of July. Most of the schools and educational institutions are closed.

As this was a lean week for IT companies due to holiday of Eid-ul-Fitr / Ramzan, so the IT companies are not declaring it as a holiday upfront. They are being cautious in sending out mailers to the employees. While they cannot declare it as a holiday directly, they are sending diplomatic emails which says “You can come to office at your own risk. Take your decision yourself. But be prepared to work over the weekend if required. Some companies have gone upto the extent of saying that you attendance will be recorded on the 31st of July.

See a sample email sent by IT companies:

We are keeping our offices open as ‘Business As Usual (BAU)’ on 31st July 2014 for associates who are able to report to office.

While we expect bus and cab services being impacted, for Associates in critical projects, special arrangements would be made by getting the requirements from Project Managers thereby enabling Associates come in early and leave late. Please provide your inputs by EOD today to Admin (Transport) Function. For Associates working in general shifts, we request you to use your discretion to commute to office.

Please note that, associates who are unable to attend office on 31st July 2014 may do so by compensating to work on Saturday, 2nd August 2014.

Cafeteria services would function as normal and support would be available from the Corporate Functions for providing necessary assistance on 31st July 2014. Please reach out to the following team in case of any support required. Request you to follow media updates and mailers from the Support Function teams. Very less crowd will be reported in the food court as shown above.
Most of the product companies have officially declared work from home. But services companies will go into huge loss if they do not support their client in US/Europe. BMTC buses may not ply in certain routes.
