We had launched joblagao to help the job seekers through employee referral process. This book is about the story of my failed startup – Joblagao. After working for around 10 years in the IT Industry, I had quit my job to start this new venture. This is a work of non-fiction based on my real experience. I have narrated the detail about my motivation to start a new company which was eventually shut down. This talks about my failure and my mindset at that time. I started the book by writing about the last day in my office when I had released all my employees. It depicts the pain of a co-founder who had to shut down due to a lack of funds. It takes a lot of preparation and courage to quit your job and start a new company. I have written in detail about my preparation before starting up. The book is written in the flashback mode which quotes my interaction with the influencers who guided me in my startup journey. I interacted with many of my friends and family members before starting up. I was seeing the successful startups and entrepreneurs in my network and I was influenced by them. I finally started this venture with 2 of my childhood school friends. I have written about my dilemma of whether to quit my stable job or not. I have captured the details of the fundraising process and the success which we achieved. I have given details around what the investors look forward to in a venture. I have shared the insights shared by the investors and advisors. I have given a sneak peek into the startup events hosted by various startup media houses and incubators. I have explained the business model of my venture and the product which we wanted to build. I have given deep insights into the core functionality and features of our product. These details can be used by anyone in the recruitment industry. I have also shared some tricks on Digital Marketing that can be used by other ventures.
After shutting down my company, I went back to a corporate job. I have shared the challenges faced in getting back to the job. I have written about my resistance and lack of interest in getting back to a job. Apart from doing my regular job, I also consult some startups in their growth journey and I feel happy about it. The ending note is on the lessons learned so that other startups can learn from the pitfalls. This book is a brutally honest account of my failure. I have confessed my mistakes and how I could have improved. Although most of the book talks about failure it ends with a positive note of starting for the next success.
