So how do successful people handle Monday morning blues, here are a few pointers.

You can run but you can’thide, before you know it, Sunday’s gone and Monday is staring right in your face and you are down with the Monday blues. Monday mornings, universally are met with a grunt and a scowl. But then there are always exceptions to the rules, and you have those as well who look forward to Monday, they welcome Mondays with joy in their hearts and a song on their lips, for they will be going to work and doing what they love.

Be an Early Bird

People like Indira Nooyi, Mary Barra, are early risers. Why do they wake up in the wee hours of the morning? Because these people get a head start over the others.

Hit the sack early on Sunday evenings and get proper rest. Then wake up early. It’s amazing how much work can be done when you wake up just an hour or so earlier than your usual timing. It helps you catch up with work and also get back into the mind frame of starting a work week ahead. Waking up early is like a gift from the gods of productivity. Once you have planned the day and you have wound up any pending work, you will find you are looking forward to the day rather than shying away from it.

Keep a Positive Frame of Mind

The more you dwell the more you will find yourself sinking into thepit of sadness. Instead make an effort to be in a positive state of mind. Sometimes it takes a conscious effort to feel good.

Indulge in activities that make you happy and put you in a good mood, listening to music or a walk in the garden can do the trick for some.

Another aspect that can put you in a good state of mind is looking good. Dress well and look fabulous, it will go a long way into lifting your sunken spirits. And also wear a smile; it will cheer you up and also the people around you, no one like a grumpy sulking face.

Exercise

President Obama works out six days a week, he goes for a run before he goes back to running a country. Richard Branson believes that exercising everyday makes him more productive at work.

It’s good to have a workout routine in place. Successful people, however long their hours in the office are always take out time for some exercise. Exercise, as we know has tremendous health benefits, but the lesser known fact is that it is very good way to put a person in a good and happy mood and it also gives an energy boost. Something we all can do with on a Monday morning.

De-clutter, Organise and Plan for the Coming Week

Prior preparation is the trade secret of all successful people.

Do some prep work for the meetings for the next week or mark your calendar with the ‘to-do-list’. Even better, if you foresee some work coming your way, get on to it and get it over with.

Make sure to wind up as much work as possible by Friday or latest by Sunday , don’t let the work pile up, however unpleasant it might be and let it not come back to haunt you on a Monday morning. This is sure to make you feel good when you start your work week.

Quality Time with the Family over Breakfast

It’s a good idea to sit down with your family on a Monday morning and eat a healthy breakfast and spend that time over a nice conversation. Being with your close ones is a good way to lower down anxiety and stress before you start your Monday routine. You get your energy levels and spirits up with this.

Reach Work Early

Make an extra effort on Monday morning to get to work early.

This helps in not only organising yourself before the real work starts and the rest of the office is buzzing with activity but also sets the ball rollingfor the day with much more ease.

Take Monday by its Horns

How you handle the Monday blues will to quite an extent affect your productivity and performance for the day.

Take on the least appealing or most critical tasks first thing when you reach office on a Monday morning and get it done and the rest of the day will feel much easier. It’s easy to avoid and defer the unappealing things for later but taking on the challenge and getting it out of your way first will help you feel better , with not only the feeling of achievement but also make you feel light and stress free for the rest of the day.

Mid-Week Stress Busters

It’s been a hard day at work and you have tons to do before the week comes to ends and the fun begins. But why wait for the weekend to plan something you enjoy doing, and no rule says you can’t make a plan on Monday after work itself. You could grab a cup of coffee with a friend after work or plan a movie. It is doable and will add a little zing to an otherwise gruelling week

Remember Monday is just another day and it will soon be over, but what is more satisfying is that you took it on, did a good job and came out victorious.
